Board of Directors Elections

What a great inaugural season we have had at MP Lacrosse Association (MPLA)! We were able to field and compete in boys and girls lacrosse and most age groups of youth boys and girls. We are excited to grow the game and get even more lacrosse players on the field next season. This can only happen if we have dedicated volunteers. As per our bylaws, we will be holding elections for open board positions in July. We welcome anyone to get involved and help GLA and MPLA get even better next season. Elections are open for the Executive Board positions of Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. In addition elections are open for voting board positions for High School Boys Director, High School Girls Director, Youth Boys Director, Youth Girls Director, Fundraising Director, and Marketing/PR Director.  The following are descriptions of each position:

Vice President

In the absence of the President, preside at any meeting at which the President would normally preside.  Assemble the Nominating Committee.   With participation from and support of all the Executive Board members, promote the organization to past, current, and prospective members to encourage maximum participation. If he or she will have a child/ward in the lacrosse program in the following year, serve as the Nominating Committees’ candidate for President in the following year.

 

Secretary

Take minutes of the Executive Board meetings and distribute the minutes to the Executive Board for approval.  Maintain an email contact list for dissemination of GLA information to various constituencies. In the absence of the Parliamentarian/Past President, ensure that Robert’s Rules of Order are followed during all meetings and assist the President in maintaining order at meetings

 

Treasurer

Keep an accurate record of all receipts and disbursements, showing each activity separately, as well as complete records of all funds.  Present a financial report at each Executive Board meeting and make that report available at each general membership meeting. File tax returns and other legal documents as necessary. Supervise the financial operations of GLA.

 

Fundraising Director

Solicits potential donors, sponsors, and other supporters through direct contact with community leaders and businesses. Coordinates all fundraising events for GLA and MPLA, such as spring or fall events, auctions, raffles, etc. Responsible for identifying and researching various fundraising opportunities and providing recommendations to the Executive Board for discussion and approval.

 

Marketing/PR Director

Responsible for updating and maintaining content information on GLA websites (www.grapevinelacrosse.org and MPYouthLacrosse.com) and other social media.  Is responsible for the communication of information such as upcoming events, schedules, game results, statistics, etc. to the Executive Board, GLA membership, and MPLA membership (and broader constituency, as appropriate) through GLA and MP website and other social media.

 

High School Director - Boys

Responsible for all Coaches in their respective division, including recruiting coaches, recommending coaches to the board, obtaining signed contracts for all coaches, and overseeing them through the term of the contract.  Oversees and manages their respective High School leagues/divisions (THSLL and TGHSLL) for the entire year (fall, spring, and summer). In conjunction with the Treasurer, developing and managing the budget for the division.  Scheduling of all practices (working in conjunction with the Director of Fields in the sponsor city).  Scheduling all games (working in conjunction with the Director of the Fields in the sponsor city and the respective league).

Working with the respective coaches in developing and over seeing any and all tryouts.

Communicate with parents as necessary. Responsible for coordinating the activities associated with the setup and operation of the fields for game days.  Working with the team managers as appropriate, is responsible for communications with parents as it pertains to schedules, notices, newsletters, etc.

 

High School Director – Girls

Same as above

 

Youth Director - Boys

Responsible for all Coaches in their respective division, including recruiting coaches, recommending coaches to the board, obtaining signed contracts for all coaches, and overseeing them through the term of the contract.  Oversees and manages their respective youth leagues/divisions (DFWL / TGYL) for the entire year (fall, spring, and summer).  In conjunction with the Treasurer, developing and managing the budget for the division.  Scheduling of all practices (working in conjunction with the Director of Fields in the sponsor city).  Scheduling all games (working in conjunction with the Director of the Fields in the sponsor city and the respective league).  Working with the respective coaches in developing and over seeing any and all tryouts.  Communicate with parents as necessary. US LACROSSE MEMBERSHIP

All players will need a current US Lacrosse number.  If you don’t already have a US Lacrosse member number MP Lacrosse will request a number for your child, but if you have a member number please provide the number during the registration process.

Being a US Lacrosse member is important because they assists our local association with grants for equipment, uniforms, coaching training, and player insurance.  Below is the link to US Lacrosse if you need to look up your membership.

We are seeking individuals to serve in positions on our Board of Directors, Coaching, Team mom, and on important committees to serve Mustang-Panther Lacrosse for the children of Grapevine and Colleyville. Board meetings will be once a month and terms are expected to officially begin in September.
