FAQ’s for Fall Football

What makes our league different from other leagues?

  • We play in the North Texas Football League where ALL participants have to follow the same player safety guidelines.
  • All of our coaches are trained and screened. Each coach attends mandatory training outlined by USA Football.
  • Each age division has rules catered to player safety. Click HERE to see the NTFL rules by age division.
  • K-2nd Grades are Flag Football
  • Starting Fall of 2019, our 3rd Grade Division will be modeled after USA Football's Rookie Tackle program.
  • We hire 3rd party referees to officiate our games - Many of them officiate at the Middle School and High School levels.
  • Every game (Home or Away) has a certified athletic trainer on site.
  • We cater specifically to Grapevine and Colleyville students and residents. Our goal is to act as a feeder program to our Middle School and High School programs.
  • Our coaches have game footage made available to them to aid in coaching and player performance.
  • This is a competitive rec league - End of season trophies will only be issued to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each division.

  • Shoulder pads to be worn at practice/games
  • White helmet to be worn at practice/games
  • Chin strap

What is a rough estimate of the cost for TACKLE FOOTBALL EQUIPMENT?
You can plan to spend about $250 for everything (helmet, shoulder pads, chin strap, football pants, practice jersey, cleats, and mouthpiece).  However, you can also spend significantly more if you select the most expensive equipment options. Most helmets and shoulder pads can be worn over multiple seasons depending on your child's growth.

What if I am unable to attend the Tackle Football Equipment Fitting Day?
If you are not able to attend the fitting day, make plans to attend our summer football camp. At our summer football camp, we will be doing tackle football fitting and you will have 24 hours to go online and purchase equipment on our equipment website. The online store closes at midnight on TBD so that the gear arrives before practices begin.

What if the equipment we purchased does not fit when it arrives?
Simply return the item to Riddell in the mail and exchange for the correct size.

What can I do to save money as I purchase equipment?

  • Keep in mind that football equipment typically lasts at least two seasons, if not more.
  • On our MP Day, Dick’s Sporting Goods provides discounts on items such as cleats, mouthpiece, and practice jerseys (your coach will decide color).
  • If your player has a sibling, they can pass the equipment they grow out of on to their sibling.
  • If you know someone who has previously played football, reach out to them to borrow and/or purchase the equipment they have grown out of.
